Community Projects

In 2006 Shylene and her husband adopted two daughters and have been spending most of their time creating their family bonds. Shylene has been moodeling and nesting for the past two years. Now with Studio Twelve Nineteen working, she has begun a new series of pieces.

Project 3- Mosaic Fernwood- Phase I

Summer 2004: the community of Fernwood created seven mosaics which are now mounted around the neighbourhoods. A great project with smashing finish- Mosaic the City's First Community Unity March :) GREAT

Project 2- Central Middle School's Community Unity Project.

Spring 2004 A great project with the most amazing finished project. In partnership with the local firehall, Grace Lutheran Church, the Craigdarroch Care home and many more, over 100 people came together to create this wonderful project.

Project 1; Mosaic the Market 2003- 5 recycled- use what you have mosaics are mounted in Market Square, 560 Johnson Street.
Go by and see the community designed and built mosaics for the Victoria's first Community Unity Project.

 

Mosaic the City is a multi-event, multi-year project, which will ultimately link downtown's Mosaic the Market 2003 Project with other parts of the city.

In partnership with groups like , these are community designed and community built mosaic projects that will bring the people of a particular neighbourhood together to create art that will help beautify and bring pleasure to their area of town.

It will bring people with different backgrounds, values and cultures together in a relaxed, creative and positive atmosphere. Mosaic the Market 2003 is the first of a number of projects, and is being held all summer in Market Square.

April 2002 Shylene in South Africa!

In April of 2003 I traveled with a team from The Communication Initiative (www.comminit.com) to South Africa. Shylene Visited Tembisa South Africa and taught a workshop on recycled paper mosaics :)This was a wonderful opportunity for Shylene to learn a new craft and inspire youth to be creative! Next page
